Great news for shopping in Rome. After monthes of shut down and stores closing in the Eternal City, things are changing. New stores are opening,. One of this is Colmar, an elegant brand for skiing, hiking and biking in the mountains. It is an intelligent strategy, a good move. A sign of reborn. First of all because there are not so many shops in the center of Rome for skiing and technical clothes, and secondly because italian mountains resorts such as Cortina, Courmayeur are opening soon for the ski season. Cervinia has already opened few weeks ago. The Colmar flagship store will be located in via Frattina 19, one of the best streets for shopping in Rome. The space is about 100 square meters with jackets, pants, gilet, duvet. The company has a long history, it was founded in 1923 by Mario Colombo. After the Second World War some collections were designed with the help of the italian skier Zeno Colò. A legend in Italy. Now Colmar is facing a new challenge. The brand is a good combination of sports and elegance. Easy to wear also in town. Especially a city like Rome where people move in scooters.
Moncler Genius what you need to know
Moncler Genius 2020, one house, different voices: exploring new territories, giving voice to people. I love to go in Rome to the Moncler store in Piazza di Spagna at the corner of via Condotti. Shopping there is extremely fun and tecnologically advanced. Next week, by the way, my appointment will be in Milano during the Fashon week. The Moncler Genius will take place on February 19th at 8 pm and I will definitly go there to check it out.
My curiosity is particularly high because I am waiting to see the performance of one of my favourite designer worldwide. J.W.Anderson. He is from Northern Ireland and he will be part of the creative hub of Moncler Genius. The other designers involved are Sergio Zambon, Veronica Leoni, Sandro Mandrino, Simone Rocha, Craig Green, Matthew Williams, Fragment Hiroshi Fujiwara, Richard Quinn and Poldo Dog Couture.
Moncler Genius is at his third ediion. They developped a collaboration with Rimowa, an iconic brand of suitcases that you can find in Rome in piazza San Silvestro at the corner with via del Tritone. With the project called Moncler Rimowa Reflection is something that we have to spot soon. We are also waiting for a new electrical bike called Mate Bike.
The owner of Moncler, Remo Ruffini is a man full of ideas. He bought the company in 2003 and he sells in flagshipstores such as the one in Rome, Milano and Paris and also through department stores. He is working for a client who always wants to change, a person in constant evolution. One House, Different Voices is the message. Moncler Genius is like an open space where creative designers from diifferent countries can get along. Fashion and culture are linked. We will follow the project very carefully.
Meeting designers during Rome Fashion week
Shopping is not only going to Piazza di Spagna or via del Corso. You can do research. One of the reason to see the Rome Fashion Week is to meet new upcoming designers. Italo Marseglia not only showed in Guido Reni district but everyone had the opportunity to have a chat with him the day after during the Show case. I hope he had some buyers visiting because one of the hope of Alta Roma mission is to drag as much as possible buyers from all over.
Let’s talk about Italo Marseglia. His fall winter 2020-21 was a patchwork of suggestions as you can see from the picture below. He called it Zoomantic, he proposes his iconic patchwork with digital sublimation printing on different supports. From eco-sustainable seaweed fabric to natural fiber lace up to tulle. It is a combination of feminine exageration and masculine sartorial rigor.
Italo was born in 1990 in the South of Italy. He attended scientific high school. Math, logic and rigor are the base of his creativity. He moves to Rome to attend IED and he graduates in Fashion Design in 2012. He worked with a great roman couturier, Fausto Sarli who passed away few years ago. A Real Maestro.
