Meeting designers during Rome Fashion week

Shopping is not only going to Piazza di Spagna or via del Corso. You can do research. One of the reason to see the Rome Fashion Week is to meet new upcoming designers. Italo Marseglia not only showed in Guido Reni district but everyone had the opportunity to have a chat with him the day after during the Show case. I hope he had some buyers visiting because one of the hope of Alta Roma mission is to drag as much as possible buyers from all over.

Let’s talk about Italo Marseglia. His fall winter 2020-21 was a patchwork of suggestions as you can see from the picture below. He called it Zoomantic, he proposes his iconic patchwork with digital sublimation printing on different supports. From eco-sustainable seaweed fabric to natural fiber lace up to tulle. It is a combination of feminine exageration and masculine sartorial rigor.

Italo was born in 1990 in the South of Italy. He attended scientific high school. Math, logic and rigor are the base of his creativity. He moves to Rome to attend IED and he graduates in Fashion Design in 2012. He worked with a great roman couturier, Fausto Sarli who passed away few years ago. A Real Maestro.

In 2016 he founds his own brand. He returns to Rome where he establishes his studio. He loves structured, tailored garments. It is interesting to go and see his website www.italomarseglia.it I will definitly keep in touch with him hoping that I can help him with american clients from www.grandtourshopping.com

Rome Fashion Week: Four days of inspiration for Shopping

From Thursday 23rd of January up to Sunday 27th, Rome had a short fashion week of four days. It is something completely different from Milano or Paris. It is interesting especially if you are looking for new upcoming designers. At least 70 per cent of my clients from www.grandtourshopping.com asked me for new italian brands when they book me for a shopping tour. That is why I went every day in via Guido Reni to the Fashion Hub, located just in front of the Maxxi Museum.

The selection is interesting and it is divided in different sections. One of the most interesting one, from a shopping point of view is called Show case where every day about 6-7 designers show their collections: you can discover coats, dresses, bags, jewelry, shoes and so on. One of the most successfull one is called Caterina Moro. She is roman. She graduated in Musicology and entered the fashion industry in 2015. Her unsual background is her strenght. An accurate research of materials and an innovative approach of the working techniques combined with a deep love for colours. Her fall winter collection 2020-21 is called Wood inheriting texture from bark, crackle of leaves. Chromatic shades of sky on long dresses, shirts and trousers. The leaf plissé applied to satin, denim and eco leather. Sometimes you have fringing and embroidery.

All the prints are made with leftover pieces of fabric that are recycled and made with sustainable colour. The softness of velvet and cashmere as well as satin and silk shows us an idea of elegance without being too pompous. There are neutral tones such as white and beige and warm tones of mustard and brown. Caterina Moro marks a brave path toward a feminine, fine and elegant imagery. We liked her a lot. She had her defilé and the day after She was at Showcase.

Shopping in Rome can be a question of laces and boots

Last week in Rome at the Quirino Theather there showed a famous play: “Arsenic and Old Laces” with two italian famous actresses. The theather was packed even at the 5 pm Thursday show. When we talk about fashion in the Ermanno Scervino pre-fall women collection, the brand focuses on contrasts. Especially, as in the picture below, between romances and hard rock. Laces and boots for example. The contrast works well and the trend will continue next fall. You can bet on it.

Exploring the collection: the romantic shirts is shown with trackpants, the small cape can work well with graffiti’s trousers. The duvet is linked with a bustier. The work of Ermanno Scervino is extremely sophisticated. The company is from Florence but they have a beautiful flagshipstore also in Rome in via del Babuino. Last week I was their guest in the Florence boutique, during the Pitti fair where they presented their winter’s men collection at the Boutique in front of Palazzo Strozzi.

.In all their collections they use a great quality of wool, silks, tweeds, and laces as we said before. The palette ranges from white to black and grey with lights of yellows. A very feminine and rock collection. Don’t miss it and book us on grandtourshopping.com so that we can take you to explore the world of Ermanno Scervino.
