Every year Loro Piana invites me and my brother Giorgio to the Horse Jumping competition in Villa Borghese.
The event takes place in Piazza di Siena and this year the ground floor was green again after years of sand.
The Loro Piana Trophy was won by an american horseman Kent Farrington.
Even the rockstar Bruce Springsteen applauded as his daughter Jessica was 7th out of 50 candidates.
Loro Piana’s is very much into sports such as Sailing and Golf too. Its life long passion for horse riding was brought to a new dimension in 1985 with the founding of the Loro Piana Jumping Team and the forging of alliances with the Italian Equestrian Federation and the National Show Jumping Team.
Since then, riders bearing the yellow and blue colors have participated in various World Championships and Olympic Games.
Before lunch we were invited to visit the beautiful Loro Piana stand, particularly chic.
This year the tribute was given to a particular suitcase that was used by salesman in the past. A nice and strict explanation comes along.
Here it is. Smooth brown, red and yellow lines flow into an elegant stripe pattern. It is called the “Suitcase stripe”.
This heritage motif is a reproduction of the canvas covering the cases. Those luggages were used to take fabric swatches to clients between 1970's to ‘90s.
Those beautiful made stripe cases were sophisticated containers for superlative contents.
